Winning in New York has got to be one of the most incredible feelings in the world of Major League Baseball. That said, losing in New York must be horrible.
And right now, that’s what the Mets are going through.
As of June 12, the Mets are the 10th-best team in the National… tied with the poor (literally, in the baseball world) Cincinnati Reds.
In the East, the Mets are 9.5 games behind the Braves and six games behind the Marlins. The Phillies are only one game up…and the Nationals are only four games away.
In short, it’s bad.
With the money that has been invested in the club, let’s say the criticism is even more intense than before. Imagine if Carlos Correa had really been an official member of the Mets…
We know that Steve Cohen has chosen, for the moment, to keep his calm (and his manager), but let’s say that the discontent is important in town anyway.
How does it translate?
First, I came across a text from The Athletic considering the idea of selling at the deadline. Nobody had that on their bingo card, did they?
Then, the stars of the club are attacked.
