Max Scherzer got mad at the dial

Last night, Max Scherzera looked good on the mound. In seven innings of work against the Phillies, he passed nine guys in the mitt and allowed just one earned run.

But did it all go to his liking even though his club won 4-2 and the sweep against a division rival was completed?

To ask the question is also to answer it.

MadMax, as he is nicknamed, got angry after the match against the dial. In his eyes, not having enough time between sets to complete his eight warm-up shots is not normal.

The pitcher wonders why the umpires can’t use their judgment on this by letting the guys take one more shot. Scherzer was stopped at seven.

Like Max Scherzer, he wonders if major league baseball is afraid of wasting a precious second.

He doesn’t like seeing MLB having control to the point where umpires can’t even decide if the pitcher can take a practice shot. This is what he deplores.

Am I the only one who recognizes the influential former player association member whenever he talks about stuff like that?

Note, once again, that we are not talking about a criticism of the referees, but of a blow to the MLB as such. He wants to see the referees use their judgment in all of this.

And we can understand that.

  • Jonathan India: A transaction is not imminent.
  • What will the Angels do with Shohei Ohtani?
  • Danny Jansen will not accompany his teammates to New York.
