Max Scherzer bounces back after two rocky starts

During his first two starts, New York Mets pitcher Max Scherzer betrayed his 38 years on the clock. Several concerns hovered over the heads of the New York supporters, and probably of the general staff as well.

The principal concerned, however, believes that he still has gasoline in the tank.

I am not broken. I wasn’t broken after the start against Milwaukee either. I didn’t have to reinvent the wheel. I just had to tweak some things.

And that’s what the right-hander did last night (Monday) against the San Diego Padres. Indeed, Scherzer had a very good outing, allowing only one hit and striking out six batters in five innings of work.

He thus contributed to the beautiful victory of his team by the score of 5-0, a very precious gain for the formation of Queens.

His high 6.35 earned run average after two starts now drops to 4.41. Even if we are still far from the standards of yesteryear, an average below three, this is encouraging for the troop of Buck Showalter, she who struggled to see her starters get good outings on the mound.

However, Scherzer will have to continue this momentum if he wants to justify his huge contract which will bring him $ 43.3 million this season, in addition to including an option year (at the discretion of the player) of the same amount for the 2024 campaign.
