Marlins may have to play Monday

After a long marathon, there are only three days left in the 2023 MLB season. Or maybe four…

This is because after seeing the Miami Marlins close the gap by one run at the start of the ninth inning and even took the lead against the New York Mets by a score of 2-1 last night (Thursday), the match was stopped in the evening, then suspended early this morning (Friday around 1 a.m.) due to heavy rain.

Until then, nothing to write to his mother, since this type of situation happens several times during a campaign.

However, the Marlins begin a three-game series in Pittsburgh tonight. They therefore had to leave the Big Apple and finally, the game against the Mets would be completed on Monday.

Now imagine the scenario: the Marlins travel from Pittsburgh to New York on Sunday evening to finish their daytime duel on Monday and qualify for the playoffs, currently having a half-game lead over the Chicago Cubs in the last rank which gives the right to appear at the autumn dance.

They should then head to Milwaukee to start the series Wild Card of three games against the Brewers. The least we can say is that it is not ideal.

Elsewhere in the National League, the Atlanta Braves ensured they had home-field advantage heading into the World Series with their 5-3 victory over the Cubs. The latter end their season against the Brewers in Milwaukee, while the Braves will host the Washington Nationals.

In Philadelphia, Bryce Harper was thrown out by the unpleasant and incompetent Angel Hernandez in an epic scene. Despite everything, the Phillies are now assured of being the host club of their first round duel, regardless of the result of their series against the Mets.

There remains a slim chance that the Cincinnati Reds close the 1.5-game gap between them and the Marlins for the final playoff spot. To do this, there is no doubt that they must sweep the St. Louis Cardinals.

To be continued over the next three days. Or rather four.
