Mariano Rivera refuses to compare Enter Sandman to Edwin Diaz’s song Narco

For many years, Mariano Rivera entered the field on a well-known Metallica tune, Enter Sandman.

When the Yankee Stadium speakers spit out the first notes of the song, it was over for the opponent. The song seemed to have power and the American group was proud to see their song used by the best closer Of the history.

Of course, there were others who had a good song. Éric Gagné notably used Welcome To The Jungle and Trevor Hoffman is known to have used Hells Bells.

And recently, Edwin Diaz has really been associated with Narco. It got a lot of buzz on Twitter…and it was even bigger when Timmy Trumpet went to play in New York at a Mets game.

In fact, Narco is the biggest song for a closer from Enter Sandman. It was therefore normal to ask Mariano Rivera what he thought of it.

And in the eyes of the Yankees legend, there is no comparison. For what? Because his song played for 17 years and won several championships.

It’s a good war.

While I like Diaz’s entry, which is very dynamic and has become a can’t-miss event every time he pitches in New York, I tend to agree with Rivera.

I really like to see players having good songs and I hope that in the future more and more players will have a song that will be iconic, that will stick with them.

After all, when that happens, it’s baseball that ends up winning since the more the sport is talked about, the better it is for visibility and for hooking new fans.
