Currently, the Giants, Mets and Guardians are all looking for a manager.
For what? Because Gabe Kapler and Buck Showalter lost their jobs and Terry Francona is no longer healthy enough to continue.
However, we must add a fourth team to the list of clubs looking for a manager: the Los Angeles Angels.
Phil Nevin will not be back, according to what has been announced. CEO Perry Minasian should keep his job.
The manager, who arrived in 2022 within the California organization as interim manager, had obtained a one-year contract.
He was therefore not dismissed as such: he was simply warned that he would not be entitled to a new contract for the future.
Basically, his one-year contract was… ordinary.
Then, he led his team to safety… after four months. The club subsequently collapsed spectacularly and he was left unemployed.
I can’t wait to see who replaces him, but the mandate will not be easy.
I wonder what Shohei Ohtani thinks about all this. Was he fired because the star is not a fan and the club wants to leverage their chances to sign him?
Did the Giants and Mets have the same mentality?
But this is not the only news concerning a manager. We learned, via Andy Martino, that the Yankees should keep Aaron Boone.
We know that the Yankees are not satisfied with their season and that an evaluation was expected. Is this already done? Are any conclusions already drawn? Good question.
We know that the Yankees believe a lot in Boone and are afraid of change. So such a conclusion doesn’t really surprise me.
Is madness repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results?
Note also that the Blue Jays saw their GM Ross Atkins speak to the media and that the subject of manager John Schneider came back on the table. And clearly, he is loved, the manager.
Atkins considers the manager a great leader and believes that at some point he will be one of the best in his profession.
I can’t wait to see what he does in the playoffs.
- 14 position players for the Jays against the Twins?
- Kevin Gausman is going to pitch tomorrow.
- The Jays will look for insurance.
- Pete Alonso is against the change of manager.
