Madison Bumgarner offered Bruce Bochy a helping hand for tonight’s game

At the start of the season, the Arizona Diamondbacks released Madison Bumgarner. The club gave him $34 million to stay at home.

Basically, he had a contract for the years 2020 to 2024. But he was pitching poorly and the club was starting to win. He therefore took the place of another.

His time in Arizona really wasn’t a success. The proof? No rumors have circulated about him signing (at minimum salary) elsewhere.

In the end, it is said that he no longer wanted to put in the effort to adapt. It probably worked against him at that moment.

But the fact remains that in San Francisco, MadBum is a hero. His performance during the series (especially in 2014) captured the imagination.

Under Bruce Bochy, he was therefore a legend.

And now Bochy finds himself in Texas and his club is a few minutes away from playing a game #7 against the Astros to go to the World Series. Cristian Javier and Max Scherzer will be there automatically.

And Bochy said he received a text from Bumgarner, offering his services for tonight’s game. It’s reminiscent of Game #7 of the 2014 World Series.

Obviously, MadBum (who is the highest earner at the Diamondbacks, another surviving club) was joking. He can’t get into the playoffs, just like that…even if he’s Mr. Playoffs.

The Rangers would have had to sign him before September 1, which did not happen.

But seriously, I always thought that if the left-handed pitcher was going to come back, it was going to be Texas. With Bochy and the need for pitchers there, the fit was natural.

But it looks like Bumgarner’s career is over.
