Luis Severino takes an important step towards a return to the game

Despite the losses of Carlos Rodon, Luis Severino and Frankie Montas, the New York Yankees remain in second place in the American League East Division behind the Tampa Bay Rays, with their record of six wins against four losses.

What is encouraging for the Bronx Bombers is that their four losses are directly attributable to Clarke Schmidt and Domingo German, two pitchers who have ABSOLUTELY no place in the New York rotation.

The Yankees won’t be able to maintain that pace, however, without the return of some of their key players. And that is what is looming on the horizon. Indeed, Severino has taken an important step towards a return to play, launching a first session in the bullpen.

Although the timeline remains uncertain, Severino says he feels no pain.

I feel really good. We’ll see on Tuesday how I feel and then we’ll go from there.

If he’s still feeling good today, the Dominican gunner hopes to kick off another session this week before he can face any hitters in the box.

In the aftermath of his injury at spring camp, Sevy said he hoped to miss only three or four starts. It will certainly be longer than expected, but the latest developments in his rehab give Yankees fans hope.
