Justin Verlander and the Dodgers will meet today

Justin Verlander’s name is coveted in the free agent market right now. The two New York teams as well as the Houston Astros would already be in the ranks to acquire his services.

But now the Los Angeles Dodgers are added to the list, who will meet the 39-year-old veteran today, according to Jon Heyman.

The 2022 Cy Young Trophy winner maintained an 18-win record to just 4 losses last season. He also posted a 1.75 ERA and struck out 185 batters, all on his return from a Tommy John-type operation.

In a very strong division, the Dodgers must revamp their rotation of starters, in part due to the departure of Tyler Anderson and the injury of Walker Buehler. Add to that that the California formation has a habit of giving contracts with a higher annual value over a shorter period of time, and you have the perfect cocktail for an agreement between the two parties.

If Verlander were to land elsewhere, the Dodgers would likely turn to their plan B, such as Jacob deGrom, Carlos Rodon and Chris Bassitt. No matter who will be the lucky winner, Los Angeles will be very aggressive in order to fill the holes in the mound.
