Since Jose Bautista retired, he has kept a low profile. The former Blue Jays power hitter may have been honored by the club last year, but otherwise, little is said about him.
But now a brand new challenge has just been announced for #19.
According to what the USL Championship has announced, Jose Bautista is now the owner of the Vegas club in the league.
Even the Blue Jays took the time to retweet the announcement.
As the majority shareholder of the club (Las Vegas Lights FC), he will also act as president and governor for the franchise.
The USL, which is the second largest league below MLS in North America, was the ideal opportunity in his eyes to invest.
Vegas is the place to be and has become a pro sports town. I will do everything to push the club to the top.
–Jose Bautista
He says he has followed the progress of the league and the rise of soccer in the United States over the past few years. He was tempted by the challenge.
And honestly, with the rise of soccer, he surely made a good investment.
This is not his first time at the investment level, but it is the first time that he has bought a club and that he will be scrutinized in this way.
It remains to be seen how he will fare in his new role.
- Seven goals and no assists for Joel Armia? A Cy Young season, that.
- The East of the American baseball is like the East of the National in football: big clubs, no winning in the playoffs.
- Aaron Judge was at the football game yesterday in Tampa.
