Joe Girardi is a good man to judge a receiver. After all, as a former masked man and former manager, he knows tobacco, as they say.
Among the receivers he worked with during his career, we note the name of Gary Sanchez. The former Yankees, who is now with the Mets, spent his early seasons in MLB under Girardi.
It was with him that he was a formidable hitter. He hit 53 homers in 177 games from 2015 to 2017. He was on fire.
Because the catcher is now with the Mets and Girardi was on the air during that game, the subject of his early career came back into focus.
And Girardi took the opportunity to throw an arrow at him concerning… the rest of his game.
Basically, the men around Girardi talked about Sanchez, who quickly hit the 50 career home run mark. They wondered if he had been the fastest in history to do so.
Jim Deshaies then claimed that he did not know if it was the record in question, but that he had one. He said it by mentioning that he was the fastest at something.
And that’s where Girardi said he wasn’t the fastest on goal.
In his last year as Yankees manager, in 2017, Girardi already criticized Sanchez, who was never recognized for his excellent defensive play.
So it’s not new.
I wonder how Aaron Judge, who is a good friend of Sanchez, perceives such comments from his first manager in the Majors.
Do you think it’s funny or lacks class?
