Jersey ad: Yankees turned down $35M a year offer

I remember when the Canadian decided to put advertising on his jersey last year. It had created a debate too big for what it really is, a company that decides to make money.

Yes, the Canadiens jersey is sacred, but the bosses are also up to date. Going for easy advertising revenue was the thing to do.

At the time, to justify the decision, it was also rumored that the Yankees and Red Sox would follow suit… and that’s what has been done since.

Yes, the Yankees have announced that advertising will adorn their jerseys for the sequel. And let’s say that it makes a lot of people react.

Texts to mention how much this has desacralized the sweater have been made, even if we are only talking about a small patch on the side of the uniform.

I’m not saying if the uniform looked like hockey jerseys in Europe… but it doesn’t.

You have to understand that such a source of income is important and a team that wants to use it can indeed do so.

What would be annoying is if the income were not partly reinvested in the club, whether in the offices, in the stadium or on the pitch.

And in the case of the Yankees, in left field, where there is a hole.

It is also important to note that the club will make approximately $25 million with its new publicity, but that it refused to associate itself with a company which would have brought in $35 million a year.

Obviously, we don’t know the reasons, but we can think it’s because it didn’t fit with what the club wanted to show.

After all, what we see there is quite discreet. During the match, we will not notice the patch.
