Earlier today there were rumors that the Red Sox might be able to bring JD Martinez back.
But in the end, it is nothing. The hitter of choice is going to the Dodgers for the 2023 season.
The California squad will give Martinez $10 million. So it’s a good little bet for the Dodgers…and it could pay off big.
One has to wonder what that means for Justin Turner, a guy who now needs his rounds as the hitter of choice too. Will the free agent sign anywhere other than LA in 2023?

The Dodgers haven’t been the most aggressive this winter, but seeing Martinez join his good friend Mookie Betts will ensure the Dodgers could really get their money’s worth.
Cody Bellinger at $17.5M or JD Martinez at $10M? The question does not arise.
The fact remains that JD Martinez will have marked the spirits in Boston. He was one of the club’s great signings on the free agent market.
