Impossible to see the clash between two of the three best prospects in baseball: it's shameful

In recent years, major league baseball has understood a little more about how to promote its young prospects. A little.

First, the draft is broadcast on TV. Then, minor matches are more easily found than before. At camp, there will be “Spring Breakout” which will be broadcast. These are hopeful matches.

Because yes, there are good young people. They sign good contracts, they destroy everything in the minors and they deserve attention.

But not everything is perfect.

Tomorrow, the Pirates and the Orioles will face each other in Florida. Paul Skenes (2023 first overall pick) will be the starting pitcher and Jackson Holliday (2022 pick) will be in uniform.

Holliday is the best prospect in MLB and Skenes and third: he is the best Gunner to still be considered a prospect.

Both are expected to play in the majors by the end of the season…and Holliday could/should even crack Baltimore's lineup in camp.

The match will take place at 1 p.m. tomorrow… but you won't be able to see it. For what? Because it won't be broadcast on television.

We know that not all camp matches are broadcast, which is insane in 2024. How can we promote sport if it is not broadcast?

I imagine that images will appear on social networks, but the match will not be on TV. This is very illogical and frustrating.

Actually, no: it's shameful.

Let's mention that Corbin Burnes will be the starter on the other side, in addition. Yes, it's shaping up to be a kind of big duel at the start of the match.

Every year, the same comments come up asking for all exhibition matches to be broadcast, but that seems to be too complicated to ask, obviously.

And it's a shame not to make matches accessible.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes wants to continue to dominate defensively.
  • Is Max Muncy seriously injured? He will have hand x-rays tomorrow.
  • How much sense does Blake Snell in New York make?
