If the Dodgers don’t sign a big shortstop, Willy Adames is a potential target

As you know, the Dodgers are in the hunt for a big shortstop. After having Corey Seager and Trea Turner in recent years, the club now has a free hand for this purpose.

Unless Aaron Judge comes to town with a big contract in hand, the plan is to sign a top shortstop. Ideally that would be Turner, who the organization knows well, but otherwise the options of Xander Bogaerts, Carlos Correa and Dansby Swanson are surely on the table.

But is there a world where the Dodgers don’t sign any of these guys? It is possible, yes. After all, more than four clubs want a shortstop and some will end up empty-handed.

In fact, some people even think the Dodgers won’t be able to sign any of the big four players in the market.

In such a case, we would have to look to other options so as not to have a guy like Gavin Lux full-time in the #6 position.

And that’s why the Dodgers have reportedly shown interest in Willy Adames.

Adames is an excellent shortstop player and he is at the heart of one of the few trades that has not clearly turned to the advantage of the Rays. Since arriving in Milwaukee, he has stabilized the club and is the heart of the Brewers offensive lineup.

This is also why the Wisconsin club would try to extend his contract before seeing him be free as air in two years.

In Milwaukee, Hunter Renfroe has been traded and Kolten Wong could be next. That said, rumors have it that Adames is in town to stay.

That said, the Dodgers do well to call anyway. You never know with the Brewers. Talk to reliever Josh Hader…
