The Marlins will undoubtedly exchange Sandy Alcantara. Everyone is suspecting.
Alcantara is recovering from a Tommy John type operation and this year, he is back in the field. If he launches well, he will place himself in a position where the marlins will receive calls for him.
And I wonder if the Red Sox, who would benefit from looking for reinforcement on the mound, will be among the teams that will make a phone call to the formation of Florida.
If ever a transaction whose base would be from Wilyer Abreu against Sandy Alcantara (by adding elements to counterbalance everything) should take place, would there not be a beginning of something in my proposal?
In my eyes, there is something there.
In a paper on The Athletic site, Jim Bowden (former DG) said that Alcantara will be in demand, but also that Abreu could be exchanged in order to bring a launcher to the city.
One plus one?
Miami marlins would exchange a launcher who wins dear for them (17.3 million $ in 2025, $ 17.3 million in 2026 and a team option of $ 21 million in 2027) against a young player emerging.
Abreu is not a suspect or a project: he is a guy of a golden glove in the right and a good striker. Since the start of the season, a chance he is there in Boston.
I believe, however, as excellent as it is, that it will slow down and that Boston is better to capitalize on its value.
If Miami was going to get him, he would be in town for another five seasons (including 2025) at low prices. It would be a beautiful stick to add to an attack that desperately needs it.
And Alcantara in Boston until the end of the 2027 season, it would boost the rotation in madness.
You have to understand that with young people who grow (especially Roman Anthony, who can take the place of Abreu in the field tomorrow morning), the Red Sox will have young people to exchange so that there is no congestion.
All they have to do is find the good youngster to let go and the right opportunity. And in my eyes, for Alcantara, it would be worth it.
