“He’s the Mookie Betts of the Cardinals” – Jordan Walker

The St. Louis Cardinals didn't quite have the success expected in 2023, finishing with a record of 71 wins against 91 losses, placing them in fifth and last place in the National League Central Section.

However, these setbacks are not expected to continue in future campaigns. And one of the players who will participate in the Cards' comeback is certainly outfielder Victor Scott II.

To the point that his teammate Jordan Walker compared him to Mookie Betts.

An incredible athlete. I don't know if you saw it. He's an incredible basketball player. An incredible bowler. He's kind of like the Mookie Betts of the Cardinals, I would say.

Walker even struggles to find what to say to advise the youngster.

For guys like that, it's a little hard to give advice in my situation because he's so good. What am I going to tell him? As for the game, I shouldn't tell him anything. Let him just keep doing what he's doing.

The least we can say is that these are laudatory remarks.

With good reason, however, as in his first full season in the minor leagues since being drafted in the fifth round of the 2022 MLB Draft, Scott maintained a .303 batting average in addition to stealing 94 goals in 132 matches in High-A and AA.

On the defensive side of the ball, the 22-year-old has brought stability to center field at every level he has played and won a Gold Glove. These minor league awards are presented by the Rawlings Company and are given to only nine players at all levels of the minors.

It will therefore be interesting to follow the journey of the young acrobat.
