Harrison Bader quickly became a crowd favorite with the Yankees. Arriving in 2022, he won the hearts of fans when he returned to health.
However, he became one too many players last year when Jasson Dominguez arrived in town, but still: he was loved.
His reign in center field was short, but interesting.
The one who guarded Aaron Judge in the right and who finished the season in Cincinnati finally found a new home: New York.
This time, the Bronxville, New York native is going with the city's other team.
He agreed to a one-year contract valued at $10.5 million. So he might not stay in New York for long, but for now, he's back in town.
He will reunite with Pete Alonso, with whom he played in college.
Normally, the club's center fielder is Brandon Nimmo. The latter will play in the corners of the field when Bader is in uniform and will return to the center otherwise.
This will add depth.
Remember that Starling Marte is another regular outfielder for the club. Jeff McNeil can play in the field as well as second base.
Bader does not seem to be the fit perfect when you look at him like that, but I'm sure that if he stays healthy, he can make a difference.
And ultimately, if he finds his bat, he will be an excellent piece for Carlos Mendoza, who knows him from his years with the Yankees.
