When Carlos Correa signed in San Francisco and when he signed in New York, his position situation was very different. After all, the only player for whom he would have accepted a position change was Francisco Lindor.
This means that in New York, he was going to play third base. On the other hand, at the Giants, it was Brandon Crawford who had to move from the only position in which he played in the Majors.
Crawford may have only one season of contract and be towards the end of his career, it did not suit him. He wasn’t saying anything for the greater good, but let’s just say that wasn’t his #1 plan.
He says he was in no rush to change his position, but welcomed the challenge imposed on him by his organization.
He even watched videos of Nolan Arenado in order to prepare to play third base. But obviously now that’s no longer a problem.
We feel that he would have really preferred to see the Giants get their hands on Aaron Judge, who was the big fish of the last crop of free agents.
But OK. Ultimately, the Giants will have to fight to dislodge the Padres and Dodgers without a big addition this offseason.
It came close, but it didn’t happen. How will the players react?
