The New York Yankees have announced that they have placed Giancarlo Stanton’s name on the injured list with a sprained left hamstring.
We know that the team has had many injuries since the start of the season and we know that Stanton is still a candidate for the injured list.
He was injured during a race yesterday and an MRI will reveal how long his stay on the crippled list will be for him.
But to compensate, Oswald Peraza has come to town.
Peraza is a shortstop who can play second base. He played in those two positions last year during his first recall (18 games in the season and three in the playoffs) and during his stay in the minors.
Peraza is the Yankees’ third-best prospect. He therefore joins Anthony Volpe in New York, he who is the club’s best hope.
I can’t wait to see how the game time will be divided between everyone. We can believe that the DH position (especially without Stanton) will be used for infield players.
For what? Because the Bombardiers are full of infield players.
- Anthony Rizzo
- DJ LeMahieu
- Gleyber Torres
- Owsaldo Cabrera
- Anthony Volpe
- Isiah Kiner-Falefa
Could Cabrera get some rep at third base while he waits for Josh Donaldson to return? Maybe that would help.
Note also that Donaldson is also on the way back, he who will play Tuesday in the minors. Cabrera could bail out as soon as Donaldson returns, moreover.
All that to say that Cabrera better take advantage of his luck since there is a world where his stay in the Majors is short-lived.
To be continued, then.
- Chris Martin is also injured.
- Day off for Daulton Varsho.
