It’s been a completely forgettable season for the New York Yankees. For everyone, including Aaron Judge, due to his injury.
But even more for Giancarlo Stanton. The main interested party is frustrated, despite the fact that the exit speed of his strikes is good and that he had good swings.
The results are simply not present.
I’m at the point of the year where none of this matters. Now is the time to ask myself, did I do enough to help win the game? Did I have an impact on the game? Yes or no? I didn’t do my part at an important point in the season.
No one can contradict him.
During an eight-game streak as the Yankees’ season was on the line, Stanton went through a period where he hit just one small hit in 22 at bats. He was taken out ten times on takes during that same streak.
With an overall batting average of .202 and an OPS of .723, that’s nowhere near enough. With numbers like these, Stanton is now looking to the future.
The way I performed this year has already run its course. There is no return on this season. Now it’s about seeing what I do every night from now on and if I did anything to contribute to the win.
As usual, Yankees fans have not spared him this campaign, but Stanton fully understands their frustration.
Whatever they do is nothing compared to how I feel.
Asked what changes he might make for next season, Stanton didn’t specify any, but insisted there would be plenty.
Hopefully these will be good ones.
