Through the first eight series of the 2023 playoff run, there haven’t been any truly close series. All four wild card series were swept.
The Diamondbacks and Rangers did the same in their division series.
The Astros and Phillies lost one match each as part of their division series. This meant that the suspense was not there.
No final match, it was a shame.
But yesterday, the games in major baseball allowed us to bring a little suspense back to the championship series.
And for me, it finally allows me to seem less crazy in the prediction game, where I didn’t exactly excel during the first rounds.
In the American, the Rangers are ultimately human. The Astros have been hitting better than their Dallas counterparts since the start of the series.
All four games were won on the road, which makes anything possible.
Yesterday, the Astros notably scored 10 points, which proves that the Rangers must not leave their “core of big pitchers” on the mound.
And that’s good: tonight, the Astros will face Jordan Montgomery. It won’t be an easy challenge, but Justin Verlander will be there too.
On the other hand, in the National, Torey Lovullo is lucky or cursed that his club won since taking out a starter on fire in the sixth inning can be dangerous.
If the DBacks had fallen 3-0 to Philly, it would have sucked. But now, it’s 2-1 for the Phillies, so things are going better.
The manager knows that releasing Brandon Pfaadt while he was perfect control of the match could make him look like an idiot.
It’s already that.
The risk was even greater knowing that tonight is a bullpen day which will be on the menu for both teams.
Arizona will send Joe Mantiply against Christopher Sanchez on the other side.
It seems that the American League is at game #5, right? The quality of the starters is not exactly the same.
This means that this evening, no one will face elimination. It will also possibly be one of the last two-game days of the season.
Texas clubs, unlike Thursday night, will play first tonight.
Note that the World Series, for those wondering, will begin on Friday in a week, i.e. October 27. We might have a Mr. November again this year.
