Derek Jeter congratulates Anthony Volpe, new Yankees shortstop

Clearly, everyone knows Anthony Volpe will be under pressure. That said, the young man is ready to face the music.

Recently, he learned that he would become the youngest shortstop in the franchise since Derek Jeter. For a guy from New Jersey, that’s a dream.

After all, he grew up watching the exploits of #2.

And now the Bronx Bombers legend took the time, on Twitter, to congratulate Volpe as he should. He told her that there was nothing like being the Yankees’ shortstop.

It must simply add to the joy that the young person feels at the moment. We feel very emotional about his new life.

The day after it was confirmed that he is a member of the Yankees, he arrived at the Yankees’ Spring Stadium hours ahead of everyone else. He put on his uniform and waited.

Clearly, he can’t wait to wear the real striped uniform of his people.

Note also, speaking of uniform, that he has changed his number. He no longer wears #77 like at camp: here he is, the holder of #11.

Since the Yankees don’t put names behind their jerseys, people who had a Brett Gardner uniform will be able to pull it out of the closet for tomorrow’s game.

A new era is dawning in the Bronx.

  • What will the Giants do with their boss?
  • The former Blue Jays changes his address.
