Despite himself, former Chicago Cubs manager David Ross was at the heart of the first saga of this off-season, that concerning Craig Counsell.
And the skipper is still digesting his thoughts and feelings related to his somewhat sneaky dismissal.
On the one hand, the main interested party is grateful to have had the opportunity to manage the Windy City club for four seasons.
I think what strikes me is that I am extremely grateful for this opportunity. There are a lot of people who have worked very hard alongside me. I am truly grateful for the four years I had, going from zero coaching experience to the chance to manage such a great organization that had a huge impact on my life. There are great people there. I really don’t have much negative to say.
Ross may not have much negative to say about the Bears organization, but he still has his fair share of frustrations to deal with. And we can understand it.
I still get frustrated from time to time. If my boss doesn’t think I’m a good manager, he should move on. I do not blame him. If he thinks I’m not the right guy, that’s his job. It’s his choice. I have my own thoughts and opinions that I will keep to myself.
The former MLB player, however, is looking to the future, not wanting to feel sorry for himself, but will instead focus on his family.
Anger and all that kind of stuff is poison to me. It’s time for me to figure out what’s next. There have been many good things after some very difficult times in my life. I hope it’s another one of them.
Let’s wish him the best for the future.
