Dansby Swanson's wife is in Chicago to stay with a record contract

To say the least, the Swanson family is here to stay.

Indeed, after Dansby signed a seven-year contract worth $177 million with the Chicago Cubs, his wife Mallory has just signed a pact worth more than $400,000. dollars annually for the next four campaigns and one option year.

The forward for the NWSL's Chicago Red Stars could therefore earn more than $2 million if the fifth season is activated, which eclipses the $1.5 million contract that Houston winger Dash Maria Sanchez signed as a free agent.

Mallory Swanson therefore did something that her husband could not do, which was to become the highest paid player in her sport.

Since joining the Illinois franchise from Sky Blue FC (now NJ/NY Gotham FC) in 2021, the player has recorded 18 goals and 10 assists in 51 games, including 47 against titular title.

The 25-year-old, however, missed most of last year due to a patellar tendon injury which kept her out of the 2023 World Cup.

Dansby is in the second year of his contract which ends in 2029 with the Oursons, while Mallory's agreement will end a year before his. Barring a major change, we therefore expect the Swanson family to be in Chicago for a long time to come.

The couple even purchased former Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein's Lakeview mansion last year.

Interestingly, the Red Stars are owned by Laura Ricketts, co-owner of the Cubs.

Everything is in everything.
