Since the start of the series, the Rangers’ offense has been in good shape. She is the one who carries the team on her shoulders, notably through production during the first two rounds of the games.
Pitchers (some pitchers, I should say) also help a lot, obviously.
In the championship series, however, it is not as obvious. After all, in three matchesthe Astros have better offensive numbers than the Rangers in virtually every category.
Why is this so? It’s certainly not the fault of the Leody Taveras, Josh Jungs, Jonah Heims or Evan Carters of this world.
In fact, we have to look at the first two positions of the Rangers’ offensive alignment to explain everything.
In three games, Marcus Semien and Corey Seager have only four hits, two each. Through three games, they both have an OPS under .400.
Seager, a walk machine in the series against Baltimore (nine in three games), has none against Houston. He’s hitting .154 in three games.
However, he has a lot of experience in the playoffs, including the championship series. He was even the MVP of 2020 in the National, with the Dodgers.
The matches had also, due to the pandemic, been played in Arlington.
Marcus Semien is making his first appearance in the championship series. That said, his .171 average in the playoffs really isn’t great.
Remember that the Texas Rangers paid a total of $500 million to the two gentlemen to move to the next level. Both had a superb 2023 season with the Rangers.
But there, if the Rangers do not want to let the Astros get back on track, they will have to bring their sticks tonight and for the rest of things.
- It’s still confusion in Miami.
- Justin Verlander will start game #5.
- Why is Tony La Russa in Boston?
