Concussion: Anthony Rizzo could no longer play this season

For two weeks, the New York Yankees have been without their regular first base player, veteran Anthony Rizzo.

For what? Because last May he collided with Fernando Tatis Jr.

Obviously, we understand that two months passed between his injury and the fact that he left the line-up, which caused a lot of talk. But in the end, we tell ourselves that a concussion is treacherous.

And in his case, that’s pretty true.

In fact, Rizzo attempted to play despite the symptoms, but earlier this month the Yankees realized it was unsustainable. And clearly, it was time for him to stop.

For what? Because the one who played badly this summer is not even guaranteed to return to the game this season. He wants to do everything to come back, but he might not be able to do it.

Obviously the guy is a ball player and he wants to play ball. It’s normal.

That said, the veteran is aware that he can’t do it at any cost. He has been better for two weeks, but if the doctors say no, it will simply be no.

And as the Yankees are doing badly, there is no rush.

The player still puts in mind that he is working to replay games this season. But if that doesn’t happen, he has a contract in his pocket and he will simply come back stronger in 2024.
