Comments from Brian Cashman against Giancarlo Stanton: his agent responds – Passion MLB

Yesterday, Brian Cashman made some pretty bizarre comments against Giancarlo Stanton… and let’s just say it surprised the baseball world.

Basically, he said this:

I’m not going to tell you that he’s going to play every game next year because that’s not the case.

He will most likely end up injured again because it seems to be part of his game.

Everyone agrees that it has no place in the world of sport. Such comments are absolutely useless.

And Stanton’s agent knows that. Joel Wolfe contacted media representatives to respond to Cashman in his client’s defense.

I read the context of the interview. I think it’s a good reminder to free agents who want to sign in New York that you have to be made of Teflon, both mentally and physically.

You can never let your guard down, even during the off-season.

What needs to be said is that the agent is right. That said, these are very nice words on paper, but when you analyze it all for real…

If a Wolfe client (who, for example, we can call Yoshinobu Yamamoto, because he is) is offered money, he will consider the Yankees.

I can obviously understand Yankees fans who are unhappy with the GM’s actions. It’s not… optimal, let’s say.

Let’s see what happens in the coming weeks for the free agents, but also with Stanton, who arrived in New York with a history of injuries.

  • The new hitting coach has already contacted Giancarlo Stanton.
  • No qualifying offers were accepted.
  • Adam Macko added to Blue Jays’ 40-man roster.
  • What is Rhys Hoskins’ market?
  • The Cubs owner wants to win.
