Late last night, negotiations were going well in Major League Baseball for a new contract. That said, there were still files that hung.
From the lot? The international repechage, an important file for the bosses, but also for the players. The former want to obtain it and the latter do not want to give it up.
International draft: the big file of the moment
Right now, it can go either way.
Yesterday, we learned that Tuesday (so yesterday) was the deadline to save a season of 162 games. Otherwise, another week of games would be cancelled.
And if we rely on the offers yesterday, we feel that the negotiations are going relatively well in certain files.
Known concessions offered today…
Owners
•would ↑ CBT to $230-242M range
•would ↑ mins to $700-770k range
•would ↑ pre-arb pool to $40M
•6 draft picks via lotteryPlayers
•open to extra CBT overload level
•would allow rule changes
•might ↓ pre-arb bonus pool to $70M— Ben Nicholson-Smith (@bnicholsonsmith) March 9, 2022
But a bit like last week, because the negotiations have been going well since yesterday and there is momentum, the deadline has been pushed back to this afternoon.
The MLBPA wanted to buy time to revise its next counteroffer.
Another deadline come and gone. It is now Wednesday morning. The new deadline is now Wednesday afternoon for the two sides to reach an agreement before #MLB cancels another week of games.

There has been progress, but the economic issues and the draft could well and truly derail the negotiations. Expect it to brew today.
The journalists of The Athletic have in particular drawn up an excellent state of the facts this morning.

But right now, it’s really the international repechage that is changing things. South American players don’t want to know, but MLB does.
This could derail plans to sign today.
This mafia is the daily life that exists in our country (DR), which harms thousands of young people who, at just 17 and 18 years old, feel human waste because of this aberrant practice. The international draft would put an end to this mafia. https://t.co/AMLiTNH7qP

It’s time to settle the last issues and get organized to save a full season in major league baseball. Fans are fed up and everyone is losing out on the change right now.
We cross our fingers.
