Cody Bellinger wants a one-year contract

In the final days, Cody Bellinger was released by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Why? Because the club didn’t want to pay him $18m for what he can offer.

It is understandable.

It therefore became, a year faster than expected, free as the air. Any team can get their hands on his serves, but it will be interesting to see what strategy he employs.

According to what Ken Rosenthal is reporting, Scott Boras and Cody Bellinger are going to go with the one-year contract strategy to restore its market value.

Bras claims his client has had multi-year offers from some teams, but the player will sign for just one year.

Why?

Because Bellinger is only 27 years old and if he can have a big season elsewhere, he’ll be back on the freelance market in 12 months still young and capable of hitting the big bucks.

It would also be in demand at the moment.

In fact, Boras wants his client to be able to do like Carlos Correa, who didn’t get the desired offer last year and signed short-term in Minnesota.

It should also be noted that the powerful agent is of the opinion that his client performed poorly because of a shoulder injury and not because he is regressing.

Will he manage to become a dominant player again in 2023 under new colors, he who does not necessarily line up to return to Los Angeles? It’s possible.

Recall that the Blue Jays could be interested in the outfielder if the price is right.

  • As expected, the Mets chatted to Justin Verlander.
  • The Red Sox shouldn’t sign a big market pitcher.
  • Julio Rodriguez is treated like a hero at home.
  • Mitch Haniger is in demand.
