We have reached that time of the year: the players who will participate in the circuit competition are beginning to reveal themselves publicly.
The first official name has just come out and it’s Julio Rodriguez of the Seattle Mariners who will get the chance to enjoy the crowd advantage in the contest.
Because yes, it’s good news for baseball and fans in Seattle, where the contest will take place on July 10.
Remember that last year, in his rookie season, J-Rod had opened the eyes of many people when he had been excellent in the competition, which took place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
He had hit 32 homers against former Dodgers Corey Seager, 31 homers against contest legend Pete Alonso, and lost in the Finals (19-18) to Juan Soto of the Nationals.
Everyone loved him and his 81 circuits marked the imagination.
Seeing him again this year at the Seattle contest was therefore natural and I believe MLB no doubt pushed very hard to see him at the 2023 event.
And this, even if the center fielder should not necessarily be in the All-Star Game as such, he who does not have a big season.
He is the first player to officially have his place in the contest, but remember that Mookie Betts said he would participate if he made his way to the All-Star Game. And he’s off to a good start, we’ll tell each other…
Which players will join them, then?
