Do you think the Atlanta Braves made a good move in getting pitcher Chris Sale? Now Alex Anthopoulos has added a layer.
The pitcher reached an agreement with his new team on the basis of a two-year, $38 million contract.
Basically, the pitcher was supposed to earn $27.5 million this year and be dependent, in 2025, on a $20 million team option.
But there, the Braves have organized so that he earns $16 million in 2024 and $22 million in 2025. Let's also remember that the Sox will pay him around $17 million, the amount retained in the transaction.
The Braves now have a club option for 2026 worth $18 million.
The launcher therefore ensures to earn at least $38 million for the next two years. He will subsequently be at the mercy of the Braves for 2026.
Recall that in the last days the Braves gave Vaughn Grissom to the Red Sox to get the pitcher, who comes with an injury history.
In my eyes, this is another good move by the Braves, who ensure that Sale will be there to provide stability to the rotation for at least two years.
