Central of the National: the counter-performances smile at the Cubs

Chicago Cubs manager David Ross would certainly like his team to experience more success since the start of the season.

With a record of 21 wins and 26 losses as of May 24, the team is currently third in the Central Division of the National. However, despite a start to the season below, the Cubs benefit from the poor performance of other teams in their division to stay at the height of the race.

“Thank you for the performance to shit other teams in the division,” he told Patrick Mooney of The Athletic.

The Cubs got off to a happier start to the season, but since late April they’ve amassed just six wins in 22 games.

SOS in the paddock

One of the Cubs’ biggest problems is their bullpen. In the National League in May, Illinois relievers had an ERA of 5.24. This is the second worst in the National League.

Despite these poor performances on the mound, Cubs president Jed Hoyer takes some of the blame, taking the pressure off David Ross.

Hoyer maintains that the administration is still in solutions mode and is keeping an eye on the upcoming transaction period.

(Another) fire sale could happen in Chicago if the performances aren’t there.
