Carlos Rodon knows he has to give more

The least we can say is that the 2023 season for the New York Yankees did not quite go as planned. And pitcher Carlos Rodon was no exception.

To the point that he would like to forget the current campaign.

I’d rather just erase it completely. We all know the Yankees have invested a significant amount of money in me, and I need to prove my worth. You pay for something good expecting to receive something good.

Indeed, after obtaining a six-year, $162 million contract from the Bombardiers last December, we had the right to expect a lot from the left-hander.

With a two and a half month stay on the injured list following forearm problems during his first start of spring camp, a meager total of thirteen starts during the season and an earned run average of 5, 74, we are very far from the legitimate expectations of the fans and the organization.

Among the reasons why the Yankees will find themselves out of the playoff picture for the first time since 2016, Rodon’s disappointing debut will certainly rank at the top of the list.

And the main person concerned is well aware of this, he who is already eager to show that he is capable of being a worthy number two gunner behind ace Gerrit Cole, to return to his former standards and to contribute to the success of the his.

I’m not going to give you an excuse for my poor performance. Winning has been at the top of my list as a player. As we know, this is also how the Yankees run things.

Rodon’s disastrous season and ordeal will end tonight when he plays against the Royals in Kansas City.
