Carlos Rodon is a big Rangers target

Do you really think manager Bruce Bochy signed with the Texas Rangers to lose? To have no options on the mound?

It’s clear that his bosses are going to want to offer him pitchers, which is the shortcoming in Arlington. And from the lot, it seems that the name of Carlos Rodon is at the heart of the negotiations.

The Rangers would therefore be serious contenders to get their hands on the pitcher, which is not a surprise, in fact.

But what we have to ask is this: how will this affect the market for other big launchers?

After all, even if Rodon is not a Jacob deGrom or a Justin Verlander, he is going to ask for a huge salary. Some rumors point to a contract of $35 million per yearwhich is huge.

Inevitably, this therefore affects the rest of the market. Why? Because I don’t know how much Rangers can afford to sign two big top pitchers.

If Rodon were to go the Texas way, would that increase the Mets’ chances of retaining deGrom? We can think so.

It will only take one domino to topple the others, I believe.

  • Will Kolten Wong be next from Milwaukee?
  • Hunter Renfroe is sad to leave the Brewers.
