The signing of Carlos Correa with the New York Mets has shaken the columns of the temple. After all, he had a deal with the Giants before he turned around and signed in New York.
In fact, he had promised to sign, he had not actually signed at SF. And when the Giants took too long to assess his medical records, Scott Boras joined in the dance.
He told the Giants that if it was too long, he was going to look elsewhere… to which the Giants said OK.
The Giants were hanging on details from the past. The fact that the club is too conservative will prevent them from acquiring a top star, which does not scare the Mets.
Because, in fact, he is healthy.
And that, Scott Boras was not afraid to repeat today. He has had his client assessed and he is fully aware that no major long-term health issues are looming for Correa.
He therefore claims not to know/understand exactly what caused the Giants to back down.
The Mets will quickly realize this since it is today that he passes his physical tests. There should be no problem and the agreement should be official by Christmas.
In the end, even if Correa was very happy to join the Giants, he is also happy to take the direction of New York.
He even chuckled Scott Boras when he found out he was going to New York.
I imagine that the Mets and their fans must be anxious to receive confirmation of the contract, in order to move on.
And when it does, the left side of the infield will be expensive, but it will perform offensively and defensively.
- Eric Hosmer is a free man.
- The Red Sox wanted Brandon Drury.
