Are you tired of hearing about Carlos Correa? Can’t wait for the moment he officially signs a contract with an MLB club, can’t we?
Recently, we learned that the case should soon be coming to an end. We don’t know when yet, but we know it should end in the case of the Mets. And this, whether it is because he signs in New York or because he leaves the Big Apple.
For a long time, it has been felt that he will stay with the Mets, but in the last few days, a feeling of uncertainty has settled in town.
And last night, Ken Rosenthal and Dan Hayes (a journalist from Minnesota) did nothing to calm the game, they who claim that the negotiations between the Twins and Correa are gaining importance at the moment.
The Twins know Correa well having had him in 2022. They liked the ascendancy he had over his teammates and his great talent.
Club doctors also saw him late in the season, but that doesn’t mean he was assessed at the same level as the Giants and Mets did this winter.
The Twins, before seeing San Francisco sign Correa, offered 10 years and $285 million to the player. Is such an offer still on the table?
In my opinion, the Twins would be willing to offer him something with clauses to protect him in the event of an ankle injury, where he had surgery about a decade ago.
But does that mean the dream is dead for the Mets? Not necessarily since these are only negotiations and the Twins have not signed the guy. But that still means it doesn’t smell good for the Mets on the record.
That said, note that Carlos Baerga, who sometimes has good scoops (including Rafael Devers), says the Mets will soon officially sign Correa.
It is therefore still too early to say if Correa will stay in New York (which he wishes to do), if he will go to Minnesota… or if a mystery team will enter the race.
It’s really a file that is completely crazy. Completely.
