Quebecer Édouard Julien flew to Arizona on Monday for the World Baseball Classic. He therefore leaves his Minnesota Twins teammates for a while to participate in this great adventure and represent his country.
He will also be part of a very Quebecois infield.
But that doesn’t stop the Twins from being impressed with the work of the 23-year-old, with Carlos Correa leading the way. The shortstop player has only good words for Julien’s batting.
My god, the kid can hit, man.
Correa isn’t the only one liking what he’s seeing of the organization’s fourth prospect from Minnesota. Its manager, Rocco Baldelli, also thinks the same thing.
He was better than a good hitter. He’s a guy who’s already made a name for himself. He’s a balanced hitter at a level better than most guys you’re going to find, even the best prospects. Your stick can take you far in this sport, and I like guys who can hit.
Coming from these two important figures of the Twins, we can see that Julien already belongs to the MLB and that he is about to take the plunge into the show.
To achieve this, his defensive game will be key. But again, Baldelli is not worried.
It does the job. He’s going to have to be a competitive defender going forward. And that’s a great area to focus on. It’s repetition and the ability to make small adjustments, footwork, things like that. He is ready to make this effort. I bet he will continue to improve. I was satisfied with what I saw of him.
Although he was greatly underestimated at the start, Julien is now established as one of the Twins’ top prospects, even though he has yet to play in a Triple-A game. It only remains to be determined when the big day will arrive.
