Surprise in major league baseball.
Since August 1, Byron Buxton has not been able to play. The one with the bad knee spent the entire season as a DH, which isn’t great for a center fielder like him.
We didn’t really expect to see him again in the playoffs, but then the improbable happened: he was just added to the Twins’ lineup. I can’t wait to see what they use it for.
To make room for him, Alex Kirilloff was removed from the lineup due to injury.
What you need to know is that alignment can be done every set. In the event of an injury, a guy can be changed, as we have just seen.
That said, Kirilloff will not be able to be back against the Astros and in the following series. In the best case scenario, he will not be able to return before the World Series.
His series are therefore possibly over.
Will Buxton be used as a DH? As a backup hitter? I can’t believe he’ll go into the field, honestly.
If he is able to bring some life to the Twins offensive lineup, that will help and his manager will definitely take him.
Remember that the Twins could be eliminated this evening. Buxton’s return could therefore be (very) short-lived.
- The DBacks pool is ready.
- A bigger payroll in Tampa?
