Buck Showalter will not return to New York in 2024

Buck Showalter announced, at a press conference before the last game of the season, that he will not be back in 2024 with the New York Mets.

Today is therefore his last game – since the match between the Marlins and the Mets will not be resumed tomorrow, after all.

Mets fans applauded the manager as he arrived on the field.

For the moment, we know that the Giants and the Mets have fired their manager. We’re going to call it the Carlos Correa effect, okay? #Or not

Because yes, Showalter admitted that he had been beaten and that it was not his decision. One could wonder if he would want to stay in the current context of rebuilding his family.

But in the end, we didn’t have time to get the answer.

Remember that Showalter did not have a good second season in town, but he led his team to the playoffs in 2022.

Let’s also remember that in a few hours, the Mets will formalize the hiring of David Stearns as president of baseball operations for the club.

Did he want to bring his man? Will Craig Counsell, his only manager in Milwaukee, follow him in this new adventure?

To be continued in the coming weeks.

  • Aaron Boone will meet with his bosses this week.
  • Alex Cora will not be the GM of the Red Sox.
