The season is over in major league baseball. What this means is that some teams have changed or will change managers.
Currently, the Guardians, Angels, Mets and Giants are all looking for a manager. And clearly, some positions are more attractive than others…
One could wonder if Bob Melvin, the manager of the Padres, would follow Gabe Kapler, Buck Showalter and Phil Nevin into unemployment.
I don’t want to add Terry Francona to the list, him retiring as manager.
But ultimately, the Padres announced, via GM AJ Preller, that Melvin would remain with the Padres as club manager.
Preller says he is excited to take on the challenge with Melvin.
Remember that rumors were that there were disagreements between the CEO and his manager. Everything suggests that there are many chicanes.
That said, for the good of the club, they are clearly able to cooperate and work together. They will find solutions to revive the Padres in the future.
I can’t wait to see if there will be any further changes within the club. After all, the 2023 season was unacceptable and that needs to improve.
To be continued, therefore.
