The New York Yankees had a big winter. The club re-signed Aaron Judge before luring Carlos Rodon to town. We talk a lot about the Mets, but the Yankees also spent.
Signing Judge opened the other files for the Bombardiers. After all, needless to say, up until then, the Yankees were putting all of their effort into the Judge.
It paid off in the end, but it wasn’t easy.
After all, as GM Brian Cashman recounted, he normally suspects what other teams are offering when he’s vying for a free agent.
But there he was in the void.
Result? He didn’t quite know what to expect. He also didn’t know if his chances of bringing him back were good or if he was putting all his eggs in the wrong basket.
That’s why at a certain point, the owner of the club called him to talk to him frankly. When he felt the file was drawing to a close, he asked the outfielder what it took to sign it.
And that’s when he told her to add ninth grade to get along.
We can therefore understand when Brian Cashman says that he found the whole thing “difficult at times” since he clearly knows that without the Judge, his club is not the same.
But luckily, all’s well that ends well.
