The first phase of All-Star Game voting is complete. Result? The player who has obtained the most votes in the American and National from the fans automatically participates.
Shohei Ohtani and Ronald Acuna Jr. got more votes than everyone else, which automatically places them as starters in the Match.
Acuna Jr. will be an outfielder and Ohtani will be the American’s starting hitter. Note that the vote only concerns position players, which does not affect Ohtani the pitcher.
To know if he will launch, we will have to wait.
To decide the other starters in the two leagues, the two players with the most votes at each position are runners-up.
For the outfielders, there are six candidates in the American and four in the National since Ronald is already assured of his position.
The next voting period will open on June 26 and will last until June 29.
Here are the players in the National League who will fight for a starting position. The guys who are left out will have to enter the All-Star Game differently… and in a reserve role.
In the American, note that the Blue Jays have five finalists.
Which? Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (1st base), Whit Merrifield (against Marcus Semien at second base), Matt Chapman (third base), Bo Bichette (shortstop) and Kevin Kiermaier infield.
The Rangers and Blue Jays each have five finalists. In the infield, besides Adley Rutschman and Yandy Diaz, they are all players from Texas or Toronto.
I can’t wait to see who will be there.
- Good news in New York.
- Josh Donaldson is not liked in New York.
