A few months ago, the Blue Jays were cited by Shi Davidi as a club that could host an All-Star Game in 2027.
For what? Because the formation of the Queen City will have, at that time, completed its renovations at the Rogers Center (which will be spread over a few years) and because in 2026, it is the Phillies who will be entitled to the All-Star Game to celebrate 250 years since the American Declaration of Independence.
In fact, there could be several reasons why the Blue Jays would be next in line to host the All-Star Game.
And Ken Rosenthal earlier this week addressed the issue on his podcast.
What should be mentioned is the fact that baseball wants to open its doors internationally, but has very rarely held its All-Star Game outside of the United States.
The only two times? Montreal and Toronto, in 1982 and 1991.
In fact, besides Oakland and Tampa (for very ugly stadium reasons), the other 27 MLB cities have had an All-Star Game since Toronto hosted the event.
Because the Blue Jays are currently renovating their stadium, the city has had the event for a long time and for commercial reasons, it is therefore logical to believe that the club will be entitled to its All-Star Game shortly.
If not 2027, we can expect it to be by the end of the decade. All the conditions are there right now.
Note that in 2023, 2024 and 2026, the Mariners, Rangers and Phillies will host the event. In 2025, it is not yet determined.
