Boston is a sports city. In recent years, the city's clubs have brought several championships to Boston.
But recently, the stability of club coaches (or managers in the case of baseball) is not exactly their strong point, let's face it.
The New England Revolution hired Clint Peay on an interim basis last fall. The Bruins hired Jim Montgomery in 2022. Joe Mazzulla has led the Celtics since 2022 as well.
The Patriots, obviously, have only just parted ways with Bill Belichick after 24 years of loyal service. He was the one who had the title for a long time.
This means that Alex Cora holds the title of manager/coach with the most seniority in Boston. He was hired in November 2020… or November 2017, if you prefer.
Remember that he was fired on the sidelines of the signal theft scandal in 2020, but that he was rehired a year later, i.e. after the (short) 2020 season.
So he has three seasons under his belt since his return to town and he is the king. However, we are not talking about a bad city for sport, on the contrary.
But when a monument like Belichick leaves, it shows… even when you look at other sports than just football.
Remember that it is possible that Cora is in his last year as manager of the Red Sox. He has one year left on his contract and he could, like Craig Counsell, benefit from his autonomy in a year.
In such a case, Quebecer Jim Montgomery, hired on June 30, 2022 by the Bruins, would be the veteran of the group.
- The Dodgers are cleaning up.
- Many contracts are being signed today. After all, it is the deadline to exchange amounts for arbitration and many players will avoid it.
- The Cubs are in all the races.
- Orelvis Martinez, a name to watch.
- His four-year contract is official.
