For long weeks, we thought that Carlos Correa was going to play in New York. It looked like Steve Cohen and Scott Boras would find common ground to make Correa the franchise’s third baseman.
But eventually, as you know, he came back to Minnesota.
We can think that in the Eastern division of the National, the clubs are happy to see that. After all, whether it was for clubs aiming for the World Series in the short term (Braves, Phillies), medium term (Marlins) or long term (Nationals), seeing the Mets sign Correa was a blow.
And that, Quebecer Alex Anthopoulos, who is in charge of baseball operations in Georgia, was not afraid to say it loud and clear.
He asserted that by saying he can’t react (by making a staff move) to seeing the Mets or the Phillies move. Why? Because the Braves (like the other 29 Major League Baseball teams) have a plan and they have to stick to it.
But still :
We follow the cases.
So when Carlos Correa ends up signing with the Minnesota Twins, I’m happy.

Obviously, as we know, the Atlanta Braves lost an important piece in Dansby Swanson. The shortstop was asking too much money in the eyes of the Braves, who preferred to see him leave for Chicago.
The club already have options on the table to replace him.
If AA had really freaked out, he would have tried to sign Correa on the cheap to replace Swanson, but he didn’t. The club, in Atlanta, is built differently. He’s not built like the Mets.
Who will have the best in 2023? That remains to be seen.
