Advisor with the Angels: Albert Pujols intends to honor his 10-year contract

Now that the hour of retirement has come for Albert Pujols, it is time for him to think about his post career.

We forget it, because it has been a very long time since this agreement was concluded, but Albert Pujols has a 10-year contract with the Los Angeles Angels as a special adviser.

Indeed, at the time, we believed in him so much on the side of the senior management of the Angels, that we wanted to have him 10 years as a player and keep him another 10 years after his career so that he continues. to guide the formation of his experience and his wisdom. All the same!

A decade later, it’s no secret that the relationship between the player and the franchise ended badly. We could even go further and stipulate that the entire contract did not go as planned. Lots of injuries, poor playoff result, disappointing production, etc. Despite everything, Pujols intends to honor this agreement!

A man of honor

This pact between Pujols and the Angels was signed in the past between the main interested party of this text and the owner of the team, Arte Moreno. Although the latter has signaled his intention to sell the team, the living legend of the Cards has every intention of honoring his agreement, because, as he puts it so well, it is with the formation of the Los Angeles Angels. and not with Arte Moreno personally that he affixed his signature.

A lot of water has flowed under the bridge since this contract. On the other hand, I can totally understand Pujols for wanting to respect his commitment. Good for him if the man with 703 long balls can continue to gravitate in the world of baseball. Too often, new retirees are in search of identity and do not really know what to do with their lives, because they have never known anything else. Not all players have the chance to continue to work further in the sport they love so much. We are talking here about working in the media or for the teams directly.

Already, the general manager of Los Angeles, Perry Minasian, said he wanted to start discussions with Albert Pujols, which is a good sign for the future. I don’t see why Minasian and the Angels would refuse to benefit from the presence of one of the greatest players in baseball history to guide the team to greater heights.

However, that means he couldn’t be affiliated with the Cardinals going forward.
