Adolis Garcia rewrites the record books

Adolis Garcia sowed euphoria among the 42,472 spectators present yesterday at Globe Life Field, thanks to a victorious home run at the bottom of the 11th inning.

As a result, Garcia produced his 22nd point of the current series, allowing him to overtake David Freese in this regard and occupy the sole position of leader in history. We should expect to see the Rangers outfielder produce other runs between now and the end of this World Series and thus distance himself even further from the former third baseman of the St. Louis Cardinals.

The 30-year-old Cuban homered in a fifth straight game, following 39 during the regular season. This streak is the second longest in history. Daniel Murphy of the Mets had a happy streak of six consecutive games with a long ball in 2015.

During this first game full of twists and turns and dotted with spectacular plays, Corey Seager took the opportunity to hit a tenth home run in the post-season series at Globe Life Field, home of the Rangers.

Let’s remember that during the 2020 World Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays in six games and this series took place in Texas in order to avoid multiplying sources of COVID-19 contamination. Seager then wore the Dodgers uniform and won the MVP title during the final series.

He thus becomes leader of this category among active players, a title he shares with José Altuve and Alex Bregman, who have accumulated as many long balls in the series in the same stadium, but at Minute Maid Park in Houston.

If the trend were to continue, but there is still a ton of baseball to be played, Garcia and Seager could battle it out for the MVP title of this 2023 World Series. The Arizona Diamondbacks certainly haven’t said their last word and they will fight until the end. The arsenal of talent and enthusiasm is present on both teams and the DBacks are also equipped to lead the charge.

For fans of exciting baseball, the first clash of this series will have satisfied millions of people. It remains to be seen whether Jordan Montgomery (Rangers) and Merrill Kelly (Diamondbacks) will want to bring people back to earth by putting on a clinic on the mound. The answer in a few hours.
