It’s done: the Texas Rangers have removed the names of Adolis Garcia and Max Scherzer from the 26-man roster available for the World Series.
Instead, Ezequiel Duran and Brock Burke are now at Bruce Bochy’s disposal.
According to boss of baseball operations Chris Young, it was clear that it was the right thing to do. Both were in pain yesterday and did not finish the match.
This means that the Rangers will have to overcome adversity.
No one is going to cry for us.

Obviously, I don’t think I need to tell you that in both cases, it’s absences that will hurt. Scherzer brought depth to a rotation that needed it.
Yesterday, for the first time in the series, he was good.
Jon Gray will be the one to replace him, but we agree that it’s not the same thing… especially because ultimately, Brock Burke was not in the initial lineup for a reason.
But it’s especially losing Garcia that hurts. Seeing Travis Jankowski replace him in the right wing makes the Rangers’ lineup much less threatening.
Garcia’s 22 RBIs in the playoffs are going to be hard to replace. It is by committee (and via Corey Seager, in my opinion) that this must be done.
To be continued this evening, therefore.
- At least Josh Sborz is available tonight.
- Names to watch for the Padres manager position.
- Mad Dog and Torey Lovullo bury the hatchet.
