According to Albert Einstein, insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. He is absolutely right and 99% of the world’s population must agree with his words.
However, in the remaining 1% is likely New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone.
As recently as May 2, Boone came out of the dugout in a game against the Cleveland Guardians to replace pitcher Domingo German, who was IN FULL CONTROL of the situation. The following? An epic rout from reliever Clay Holmes, which ended in a victory for the Guardians.
Yesterday, that same German had both hands on the wheel once again, having allowed only one run on three hits in five and two-thirds innings of work. He was just one out from a quality start.
Barely giving up his third hit of the game, German saw his manager come out of the Yankees dugout. The following? An epic rout by reliever Ron Marinaccio, which resulted in a win for the Tampa Bay Rays.
And still no satisfactory explanation from the skipper.
It is true that the game ended with an 8-2 victory for the Rays, but the score was only 1-0 when Boone made the mistake. The end result would have been completely different if the right decisions were made at the right time.
The Bronx Bombers are currently struggling offensively. So they need their manager not to sabotage their chances of winning important games night after night.
Aaron Boone is clearly not the man for the job and never will be. It’s high time for a makeover in the Bronx, because he’s not the one you want to see manage a game on par at the fall dance.
- Speaking of the Rays, Tyler Glasnow is nearing a comeback.
- Zac Gallen is a little resentful.
- Two different philosophies and two different results.
